12-3-24 Richie & Rosie

$30 ADVANCE TICKETS

Richie Stearns and Rosie Newton share incredibly unique, musically-immersed childhoods: Richie’s family founded the iconic GrassRoots Festival of Music & Dance (which he is now President of) and by her junior year of high school, Rosie was playing fiddle and touring with folk rock band The Mammals.

During that time, the two were introduced at Saratoga Springs’ Flurry festival -- a meeting that would spark a fated friendship and unique musical bond. As a Woodstock native, Rosie graduated high school and decided to move to Ithaca after being drawn to the thriving old-time scene -- which happened to also be Richie’s stomping grounds.

While studying viola at Ithaca College and playing fiddle on the side, Rosie started incorporating folk with her traditional Celtic and classical upbringing. Meanwhile, Richie was a well-established singer and banjo player in the community, having performed around the world with bands like Bela Fleck, Pete Seeger, David Byrne, Billy Bragg & Wilco, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Joan Baez. In addition to releasing two solo albums, Richie was adding to his endless discography, which includes three Natalie Merchant records, multiple collaborations with Jim Lauderdale and Donna The Buffalo, and Carrie Rodriguez.

During Rosie’s freshman year, the two finally began touring together regionally as part of the Evil City String Band, where they were joined by bass player Ben Gould, Steve Selin on Fiddle (in addition to Rosie), and guitarist Paddy Burke. Eventually, they decided to pursue a more intimate project as a duo and in 2013, released their first collaboration, “Tractor Beam”. They went on to release the album, “Nowhere in Time”.  The title track came from an unexpected phone call from the AARP.  Richie wrote a song for the organization that chronicled ‘life after 50’. “You can look back and look forward, but we aren’t done with life, we’re just where we are. It’s about focusing on the moment.”  Ironically, the commissioned song became one of their most well-received songs and defined exactly what the duo hopes to achieve -- music that many can connect with.

With the fated combination of Richie and Rosie’s unique skill, varied musical influence, and honest storytelling, as two musicians in two very different parts of life, Richie and Rosie are proof of two things: the power and magic of two people making music, and that the universal messages that lie within their songs will remain timeless.

“The air left the room when Richie and Rosie sang their first notes together…everyone had their breath taken away at once”  Jen Hughes, Bluegrass Today

11-12-24 Brett Beardslee/Jaimie Lee

$20 ADVANCE TICKETS

Brett Beardslee was born in Hector, NY.  He graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in acting which took him to New York and Los Angeles in pursuit of an acting career. The career was happening. Perhaps you saw Brett with his guitar on “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch”, or maybe you caught him on “Beverly Hills 90210”? In any case,  the boy missed the country. He moved back to Hector. His music and poems became an expression of the feeling of futility of “making it” in the entertainment industry  and the coming to grips of what’s really important when you turn your back and walk away. Brett’s clever, engaging, and often moving lyrics are balanced with his just plain “silly songs”. These songs are Brett’s way of blowing off steam in a crazy world and realizing that it’s okay to pick on each other and laugh. Brett is one hell of a Blues Guitar player and a gem of a musician. He still tools around in his 1958 Volkswagen Bus, Juicy Lucy (his tour bus for decades) We’re proud to have Brett launch this brand new concert series.

jaimie lee

Jaimie Lee grew up in North Carolina, where her love for music began. She always enjoyed singing and had an urge to write songs. Learning to play the guitar was the perfect avenue for this creative venture. Through high school and college, she played solo gigs at coffee shops, special events, and bars/restaurants. Her musical influences early on were Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Jim Croce, and Ingrid Michaelson among others. Now in the Finger Lakes Region of New York, she performs as a solo musician. She’s frequently described as having the "voice of an angel".  Jaimie Lee has developed an Americana/folk/pop music style. She has a knack for putting her unique twist on cover songs and singing with a passion that will convince you those songs were her own. Her original songs are clever, thought provoking, and sometimes humorous with a hint of sass.  We think you’ll love Jaimie as much as we do.
